Why Belize?
Belize (formerly British Honduras) is a small nation located in Central America south of the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. A short flight on major airlines (1hr. 45min) from Miami or Houston will land you in this special country.
Belize is one of the most unique places on earth due to her extremely low population density (pop. 270,000). Her wealth of tropical rainforests, pine forests, rich farmlands, and barrier reef systems, which are dotted with hundreds of small islands (cayes) have been protected and her 3 spectacular atolls have been named world heritage sites. Thatch Caye Resort is located in the Coco Plum range 9 miles off the coast of Dangriga and only 10 minutes from this spectacular reef.
Belize is blessed with abundant rainfall that guarantees an endless supply of fresh fruits and vegetables and the pristine waters that surround the islands are teeming with lobsters, snappers, yellow tail, groupers and conch. Fabulous bone, permit, and tarpon fishing can be experienced in the shallow flats that surround many of the cayes and mangrove habitats of Belize.
The sea life and animals that populate the waters and forests of Belize still thrive in the pure protected environments needed to sustain rare species from Manatee to Jaguars.
Birds of every size and color make Belize their seasonal home as they travel their annual migratory routes.
The Belizean people are drawn from multiple cultures from around the world.
Three main ethnic groups populate this special place. Descendants of the
original Maya inhabit the interior along with
Mestizo (a mixture of Mayan and Spanish settlers) and the
Garifuna people (a blend of African slaves and Caribe Indians)
can be found along the coast.
The balance of the population is a true
melting pot with Chinese, Hindu, Lebanese, German, British, Canadian
and Americans all living and working together without serious conflict.
Amish as well as Mennonite communities can be found throughout Belize contributing their wealth of talent to the ranching and farming needs of this small country.

In a time when it is rare to find a place and pace that has not been compromised by industrial supremacy and it’s inevitable pollution, Belize still places a premium on simpler pleasures derived from Nature.
This singular country is graced with friendly people, spectacular mountains, virgin forests, crystal clear rivers, fertile farmland, coastal savannahs, and the second largest coral reef system in the world.
If you love nature, you will love Belize!
