Begin 2019 with island yoga. Revitalize and nourish yourself with guided vinyasa and meditation in the open air over the turquoise Caribbean Sea. This is an all-inclusive retreat led by BFREE YOGA owner Shelby Autrey with support by Kate Van Dyke.

Rise, shine and flow to turquoise waters and island views. Each day will include mid-morning yoga practice in an overwater, open air palapa. We will connect our breath to the true sounds of ocean water and flow through creative and buoyant sequencing to warm your body and set your spirit free to be. Each participant will have opportunity to request some pose, theory, or need and we will allow a generous amount of time to workshop and discuss each of those desires. Lunch and time to explore or rest will be a hearty part of your day and we will cap it off with optional yin and meditation practice. Feel free to enjoy rest or night life. This week is all about you quieting the shoulda, woulda, coulda’s and allowing your own inner wisdom to rise inside of you. From this place you will return home with clarity and ease. Carrying that laid-back, happy, satisfied feeling and having cultivated a deeper understanding of yourself and appreciation of your yoga community.


Shelby teaches alignment based vinyasa flow, yin, and meditation. In 2003, Shelby came to yoga while in school for sports injury and myofacial release massage therapy in the effort to create balance and holistic understanding of the body to amplify physical and emotional well being. Little did she know the power of breath met with movement and stillness would lead her to the seat of passion in her heart. “I am inspired by the inevitable joy and freedom that comes from creative sequencing rooted in alignment, and the pilgrimage through the meditative practices of yoga to know myself more fully.” You can expect to move in a precise and fluid way in her classes. She curates a class or pose to honor specific therapeutics so that everyone finds access to an expression of the practice. In 2011, Shelby opened BFREE YOGA in Austin, Texas. She commits to live her life through the lens of yoga to learn, grow, share, and thrive daily. Shelby is an E-RYT 500 through Yoga Alliance and curated and founded BFREEOLOGY 200-hour yoga teacher training school of yoga in 2016. Her teachers are Gioconda Parker and Christina Sell. Shelby has been a nationally certified therapeutic massage therapist focusing on myofascial release and functional movement since 2004. She has led classes with Yoga Journal Magazine at three national conferences and assisted and led at two Wanderlust Yoga Festivals in Colorado.

Additional add ons may include:

  • All-Inclusive Alcohol: Additional $25/night to add on all-inclusive local alcoholic beverages (plus tax)
