ROOTED Yoga Retreat with Rachel Matz
5 nights, 6 days • March 29 - April 3, 2020
Hosted by Rachel Matz
ROOTED Retreat with Rachel Matz, RYT 500 HR, is a yoga retreat for the mind, body & soul. We will practice asana (Vinyasa, Power, Yin & Restorative styles), pranayama (breath work) and various styles of meditation for a full awakening experience. This retreat is designed to be an immersion & deep dive into the self to cultivate awareness, understanding and compassion.
Each full day of the retreat will include two yoga classes- one active style class and one gentle/meditation-based class. All levels are welcome to attend, including beginners! Our daily lives require so much doing, and although we’ll definitely be doing fun things like exploration activities and yoga asana, this retreat is designed to help guide you back into the art of being. Brene Brown defines the term “true belonging” as this, “the spiritual practice of believing in and belonging to yourself so deeply that you can share your most authentic self with the world and find sacredness in both a part of something and standing alone in the wilderness. True belonging doesn’t require you to change who you are; it requires you to be who you are.” This retreat is designed to guide you into the sacredness of your being- to bring you into your most authentic space- your essence.
Rachel is the owner and operator of Grass Roots Studio. She’s an RYT 500 hour instructor and completed her training over a two year period with Awakened Life School of Yoga, traveling to Bali twice and Costa Rica from 2014-2016. She’s trained in Active and Slow Flow Vinyasa, Restorative yoga, Yoga Nidra and Shamata meditation.
Rachel played basketball at Ashland University and earned a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science and Religion, and soon after completed schooling to receive her License in Massage Therapy. Her teaching often mixes components of spirituality and yoga philosophy with physically challenging and structurally intelligent flows. And you can always count on an invigorating array of music to flow with! She believes that yoga begins on the mat, and eventually, with consistency and practice, carries into every aspect of life. The deeper the connections and ties between the body, the mind and the heart, the more passionate, peaceful and purpose-driven life.
When she’s not giving massages or teaching/practicing yoga, she loves to do anything outdoors with her husband and two Siberian huskies, Atlas and Athena. Rachel also LOVES to travel…don’t hesitate to ask her about her latest adventures!
